The short answer is yes; a person can be both a beneficiary and an executor of a will. However, there are some important things to consider when filling out the necessary paperwork.

Section one: Beneficiary: A beneficiary is the person who receives the assets from a will after the person dies. This could be you or someone else. If you are named an executor in a will, this does not mean that you cannot also be named a beneficiary.

Section two: Executor: An executor is the person who carries out the wishes of the deceased person by making sure that each beneficiary gets what they are supposed to get. If you are named an executor, it does not mean that you cannot also be named a beneficiary.
