Can a Final Divorce Decree Be Undone?
Can a final divorce decree be undone?
Yes, a final divorce decree can be reversed if one of the parties chooses to seek an annulment, or if there was fraud involved during the original hearing. First, the party must contest the divorce by filing for an annulment, which will be heard separately from any other divorce issues. An annulment is a court order that says that at least one of the conditions for a valid marriage were not met at the time you got married. There are several reasons why a court may agree to reverse your divorce and make you get back together with your ex-spouse:
-The marriage was entered into under duress or fraud (a person lied to get you to marry him or her)
-You were forced in some way to sign the marriage license (you were threatened, or you signed it while intoxicated)
-You entered into marriage too young (in most states, this has to be younger than 16; in others, it’s younger than 18)
